Pathfinders is a big part of our CHACE program.

Children's Homes Adventure Challenge Experience (C.H.A.C.E.) is an experiential learning program using a variety of low and high rope and wilderness activities to teach trust, cooperation, teamwork and many other coping and social skills.

The CHACE program has two phases:

Pathfinders is for new residents into the program

Leaders in Training (L.I.T.) is for those who have been through the Pathfinders phase, developing  their leadership qualities by passing the knowledge on to the next group.

The CHACE program is effective for teenagers with the following problems:

  • Low self-esteem
  • Low self-confidence
  • Depression
  • Adjustment problems
  • Defiance
  • History of substance abuse
  • Poor family relationships
  • Anger management problems
  • Lack of personal responsibility
  • Impulsive
  • Lack of problem-solving skills
  • Disrespect for authority
  • Out of control
  • Rebellious

The school year is divided into two Pathfinder sessions, with one for females and one for males. There are three camping trips during the semester with other training sessions interspersed between the trips. There is a combination of low ropes and high ropes activities used to teach new coping and social skills.

Volunteers, donations of money or equipment are greatly appreciated. These are tax-deductible donations. Contact: David Wood.
