The James & Charlene Balcom Learning Center program (formerly referred to as the Little Red School House) provides an on-campus alternative learning environment for the children of Children’s Homes. In the BLC, each new child in care receives one-on-one help in academics and spiritual training, with special attention given to psychological, behavioral or social problems. The BLC’s curriculum is coordinated with two local schools: Greene County Tech (a local public school) and Crowley’s Ridge Academy (a local private Christian school). Upon meeting his or her academic, behavioral, spiritual and emotional goals, each child is enrolled at one of these schools. This program’s present capacity is 22 students.
