Children's Homes operates two farms to provide unique and robust programs and services for the children in our care.

The 60-acre Emmett Smith Memorial Farm, located just 1.5 miles from our main campus, is home to our Equine Therapy program, the animals we use for 4-H competitions, and a large vegetable/fruit/berry garden. On the Smith Farm, we keep horses, hogs, goats, chickens, rabbits, and even some deer. The children of Chldren's Homes work with these animals in Equine Therapy and in preparation for 4-H competitions and other livestock shows. The animals and plant life on the farm are processed and used in our cottages to provide food.

The William & Vacle Olive Ranch, a 230-acre tract in Walcott (bordering Crowley's Ridge Youth Camp), is home to several head of cattle. Additionally, CRYC uses the property during the summer to provide trail rides and fishing opportunities to campers.

There are several ways to help the farm and 4-H programs. Volunteer opportunites abound at the farms, and donations of supplies and even animals are encouraged. Contact our office for details.
